Skills and Experience: I have worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and in Australia with children, young people and families in a range of services including Child Protection, Hospital, Women’s Refuge, Child Adolescent Mental Health and Police. I have worked in rural, urban and remote settings with a diverse range of cultures.   I work in a holistic way,  and I enjoy supporting people with their healing process.

Specialist Area(s): Family Work, Childhood abuse and neglect, People who have been in foster care; Family Violence.

Cultural Experience: I have worked in diverse cultural settings with people from a range of abilities; faith; ethnicity and gender.

Qualification or Styles of Therapy: I use an Ecological Systems approach to my work – we are all a part of a family; a community & society and all these things have an influence on us.  Poverty, unemployment, homelessness and lack of support impacts on our healing.

Therapeutic approaches I use include: Trauma therapy, ACT, CBT, DBT, Mindfulness; Brief Intervention & Solution-focused.

Kia ora, my name is Sandy, I’m a registered Social Worker and accredited ACC provider of counselling services.  For the past 25 years I have worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and in Australia with children, young people and families in a range of services including Child Protection, Hospital, Women’s Refuge and Police. 

I am currently working with children and young people in mental health, and I have worked in rural, urban and remote settings with a diverse range of cultures.   

I enjoy working alongside people and assisting them to find tools to help them move forward with their lives.
