Travel Information
Monique’s passion for horses began in the UK, where she grew up among the wild ponies of the New Forest and trained at BHS-affiliated stables, including Wellington Riding—an international competition and training center. In New Zealand, working with local horsemanship trainers she immersed herself in a new approach to riding, incorporating groundwork, ridden work, observation, and an understanding of both equine and human psychology.
Monique is dedicated to equine welfare, education, and ethical training. She has contributed to the racing industry through her work retraining and rehoming racehorses via the HRNZ HERO Programme and as Executive Officer of the NZ Equine Education Trust, the racing and breeding industries’ Private Training Establishment.
Alongside her equine work, Monique is pursuing postgraduate studies in Psychological Science at the University of Canterbury, deepening her understanding of human psychology in the context of horse-rider relationships. She offers tailored training that supports both horse and rider, helping them build confidence, communication, and connection.
