Kia Ora about me:

I am a registered Social Worker with 25 years’ experience. I have a broad range of experience across adoptions, foster care, disability, mental health and child protection. This has given me a good working knowledge of struggles around neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, trauma, loss and attachment issues.

I have worked in mental health setting for child and adolescent, eating disorders, on a youth helpline, as a school counsellor and as a mental health practitioner based in a doctor’s surgery.

Social Work

I am registered under ACC sensitive claims to provide Pre and post claim support for clients. My relevant experience includes and services I can provide include:-

- Parenting and family support and advice

- Liaison with schools, health services, housing, WINZ

- Working with NGOs and signposting for additional support

- Disability and neurodiversity support and advocacy

Counselling

I am able to provide counselling both privately and through EAP.

I have experience as a mental health professional providing counselling for child, adults, couples and families. I have worked within disability and health settings and have a good understanding about diverse needs.

Evidence suggests that a good repour and relationship with a counsellor is the most important measure in a client’s healing journey, and as such I have a client and family centred approach which is non judgemental and supportive of making change. I am to support client to understand their healing as a journey and to lay the pathway one brick at a time.

I have certificate training in several therapeutic interventions including Acceptance and commitment therapy, brief solution focused therapy, narrative and sand tray therapy. I have an in-depth understanding of attachment and trauma and experience of working with caregivers and families as a whole, as well as for individuals.

I can provide;-

- Parental support for those struggling with their child’s mental health or behaviour

- One on one counselling for children, adolescents or adults with issues including

- Anxiety, depression, attachment and trauma issues, adoption, family dynamics.

I am based in West Auckland with ability to travel and with availability for both in person and online counselling.
