Penny is a compassionate and highly experienced therapist with over 25 years of clinical experience in mental health and trauma recovery. She specialises in supporting individuals and whanau through the complex impacts of trauma, offering a safe, respectful, and client-centred space for healing.
Penny takes a holistic, integrative approach to therapy, focusing on the balance of mind, body, and spirit. She draws on a range of evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), somatic
and embodiment practices. Her work is deeply informed by systems theory, developmental theory, neuroscience, and polyvagal theory.
Honouring each person’s unique story, Penny tailors her approach to reflect individual values, cultural identities, spiritual beliefs, and inner strengths. She thoughtfully integrates therapeutic frameworks with practices that support nervous system regulation, spiritual wellbeing, and meaningful connection to self, others, and community.

If you have an approved ACC Sensitive Claim, ACC provides adjacent group therapy in addition to your individual therapy. South Coast Psychology provides a range of Group Therapy programmes such as trauma-informed yoga, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and equine day retreats.
ACC Sensitive Claims Services
Through the ACC Sensitive Claims Service we offer fully funded support, treatment and assessment services for survivors of sexual abuse or assault. Our Named Service Providers are skilled, experienced, and qualified professionals.
Clinical Supervision
Supervision is a special type of professional support that develops and enhances the practice of professionals, which keeps them and their clients ethically safe and upskilled. All our providers are committed to receiving clinical supervision on an ongoing basis.
Equine Therapy
Equine therapy has been used to treat anxiety, ADHD, eating disorders, addiction, depression, PTSD and many other mental health conditions, and, in addition to targeting symptoms of those disorders, is theorized to help people build confidence, self-awareness, and empathy.
Private Therapy Services
At South Coast Psychology, our providers offer evidence-based, culturally grounded and compassionate care to support you at your own pace. Private sessions provide flexible, timely support without the requirements of external funding or referrals.
